Gone... Forgotten... No just lazy

by darwin @ 04 Mar. 2008 - 00:27:03

Lots of interesting things have happened in the world but I've reserved my pithy comments for those nearest and dearest to me.

Now that they are totally sick of me expressing opinions about trivial stuff and things that I have no understanding of I'll afflict myself upon poor unsuspecting readers again I guess.

Colorado Schools Ban the Scourge of Tag in the Playground

by darwin @ 31 Aug. 2007 - 09:46:58

Long time darwinsmoustache readers will recall Boston schools growing some stones and standing up to the social menace that is playground tag.

Well you'll be pleased to know that the morons in Colorado have finally woken up to the horrorifying psychological damage tag is causing their kids. Not before time I might add!

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - An elementary school has banned tag on its playground after some children complained they were harassed or chased against their will.

"It causes a lot of conflict on the playground," said Cindy Fesgen, assistant principal of the Discovery Canyon Campus school.

Running games are still allowed as long as students don't chase each other, she said.

Fesgen said two parents complained to her about the ban but most parents and children didn't object.

In 2005, two elementary schools in the nearby Falcon School District did away with tag and similar games in favor of alternatives with less physical contact. School officials said the move encouraged more students to play games and helped reduce playground squabbles.

Fence dares to show the face of Mohommad

by darwin @ 27 Aug. 2007 - 23:55:16

A fatwah must be issued immediately calling for the destruction of this fence that dared to display an image of Mohommad.

In fact action must be taken against all wooden fences!

Burn them, burn them all along with the forests that spawned them and the hardware stores that bought them to be.

Moustache Hosts Unite

by darwin @ 27 Aug. 2007 - 23:22:15

Reclaim the right to fair and equitable treatment no matter how you chose to display your facial manliness.

Join the AMI and seek justice for moustache hosts everywhere.

And while you're feeling sympathetic towards manly expressions you might like to show your sensitive side by supporting man boobs or moobs if your will.

Thanks to the Angry Ape for catching this first breeze in the cyclone of moustache growth that will soon sweep the world, lifting those with moustaches upon high and lay low the meek and close-shaven.

In the immortal words of Rudyard Kipling himself “Being kissed by a man who didn't wax his moustache was--like eating an egg without salt.” and if I were to take the liberty of standing on the shoulders of giants I would add...

and kissing a man with no moustache at all-- is like kissing a woman.

New abandoned place

by darwin @ 17 Jun. 2007 - 01:38:20

I just found this new (to me) abandoned place and thought I'd share it with long time readers of darwinsmoustache who recall the sort of series I did a couple of years ago.

This one is an island called Hashima off Nagasaki originally used a a coal mine but... well watch this documentary-ette and you'll see.

BREAKING: Decisive Victory

by darwin @ 13 Jun. 2007 - 20:35:38

Now that this brave soul has shown what it takes people are going to rally behind them. Your days are numbered squirrels. We will not go quietly into that good night!

An unusually aggressive squirrel attacked three people in a German town before its last victim finished it off with a crutch, police said Wednesday.

The rodent jumped through a living-room window in Passau, on the Austrian border, on Tuesday and bit its first victim. With the squirrel hanging on by its teeth, the woman ran out into the street, where she managed to shake the animal off.

The squirrel then bit a builder before fleeing into a nearby garden, where it bit a 72-year-old man who eventually killed it with his crutch, police said.

The dead animal was to be tested for rabies.

The Police- Edmonton, June 2nd, 2007

by darwin @ 03 Jun. 2007 - 23:12:00

I'd been wanting to see The Police play together since the announcement of a reunion 20 years ago (in that instance Stewart Copeland dashed my dreams by breaking a collar-bone in his infamous polo accident).

It was worth the wait, and perhaps even better because of it. They were excellent.

They hit all the spots and at the same time made the show feel unique. I couldn't have been more satisfied. Their light show was impressive and their sound was spot on; not too loud nor too quite and the quality was superb.

The highlight of the show was "Truth Hits Everybody" which they nailed.
